September 10, 2000 (David W. Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, 1701 Harns Rd., Oak Harbor, WA 98277, dcloud@wayoflife.org) - In the last few days I received several responses about the article "Working Mothers" by Ron Williams of the Hephzibah House. Following are two of these that present very different perspectives:

Recently, you published an excellent article on Mothers working out of the home. I thought I would briefly share my testimony on the subject.

My wife and I met at University. Both of us were pursuing a degree in computer science. As it turns out, she was the twin sister of another female friend of mine. At any rate, we got along well. She was saved but had never been baptized. I encouraged her to come to our Church and she did so. She later became a member of the Church through scriptural baptism.

Some time later (not long really), we decided that we would marry. Before we were married, we discussed many things about our future life together. Also, our Pastor would not marry us without a good deal (approx. 6 months) of counseling. One of the things we talked about was her working (remember, she was pursuing a degree) and what would happen when we had children.

I can only Praise God for the Godly opinions and wisdom of my wife. We both wanted the same thing. As God provides, she would stay home with the children once that time arrived. We were married in 1991 while Terry was around half way through University.

She finished her degree and taught introductory computer science at the local college here for one school year, near the end of which she got pregnant.

We are approaching our 9th anniversary and she has been able to stay home with the children ever since. We have 3 children, Rebekah is 5, Emily is 3, and Matthew is 1. We just started home schooling; Rebekah using the Landmark Freedom Baptist Curriculum which is published by a Fundamental Baptist Church in Florida and redistributed by Bethel Baptist Church in Ontario.

God has always provided for Terry to stay at home. I have never been without a job for a long period of time (the longest was one month) and we've never done without. Yes, it's been tight a few times, but God has always provided.

What's this prove? that if you follow God's principles, He will provide as He has promised in his Word. My wife is truly a model for the Godly woman described in Prov 31, 2 Tim 1, and Titus 2.

Just one man's testimony.

Carl Constantine

Dear Mr. Cloud:

Right now I think that you are wrong. I have stayed home, we tithe and we give, and right now I need a new hot water tank, new tires on the truck and are you going to send me the money to fix all of these repairs or DO I GO to work. Right now there is no other way. And we do not spend our money foolishly. GO fly your kite.

Debby
